Kibale National Park

A chimpanzee resting among green forest vegetation in Kibale National Park, Uganda.

A primate-rich rainforest best known for chimpanzee tracking and a strong complement to Uganda’s mountain gorilla experiences.

Kibale is one of Uganda’s key forest destinations and is closely associated with chimpanzee tracking and habituation experiences. Its tropical forest adds a different primate setting to the mountain landscapes of Bwindi and Mgahinga. A visit is about moving through forest with experienced guides, listening for chimpanzee calls and seeing how primates use the canopy and understory. The setting also rewards travellers interested in birds and forest ecology. For Syson itineraries, Kibale is the strongest chimpanzee component in a broader Uganda primate circuit and links naturally with Queen Elizabeth National Park to the south.
