Murchison Falls National Park

The Victoria Nile narrowing through rocky cliffs at Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda

Uganda’s largest national park, centred on the Nile, powerful Murchison Falls and broad savannah wildlife viewing

Murchison Falls National Park combines river, savannah, woodland and the dramatic point where the Victoria Nile is forced through a narrow gorge before dropping into the river below. The river corridor supports hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife, while surrounding plains offer opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and other savannah species. Game drives and Nile-based viewing reveal two very different sides of the park. For Syson, Murchison is a strong northern safari anchor and adds scale, river scenery and classic wildlife to itineraries that later move toward western Uganda’s primate forests
