3-Day Gorilla & Golden Monkey Safari in Mgahinga

Day 1 — Travel to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park 

Begin your journey towards Kisoro and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in south-western Uganda. Enjoy changing countryside and highland scenery along the way before arriving near the park. Check in at your accommodation and spend the evening relaxing as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking experience. 

Day 2 — Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga

 After breakfast, transfer to the park briefing point for an introduction from the ranger team before entering the forest. Trek through Mgahinga’s beautiful montane forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. Once the gorillas are located, enjoy the experience of watching them feed, rest and interact in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your accommodation for a relaxed evening surrounded by the scenery of the Virunga highlands. 

Day 3 — Golden Monkey Tracking & Departure 

Start the day with golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga. Follow experienced guides into the bamboo forest where these energetic primates move quickly through the vegetation in groups. Their playful behaviour and striking golden-orange colouring make this a very different experience from gorilla trekking. After the activity, begin your onward journey to the agreed drop-off point, marking the end of your Mgahinga primate safari.
