Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

gorilla-bwindi

Ancient rainforest and Uganda’s best-known mountain gorilla destination, with forest trails, rare wildlife and strong links to local culture.

Bwindi is a dense, ancient rainforest on the edge of the Albertine Rift and one of Uganda’s defining primate destinations. The forest protects mountain gorillas alongside rich plant, bird and other wildlife diversity. Visitors come primarily for guided gorilla tracking, but the wider experience is the forest itself: steep green ridges, bird calls, mist and close-up encounters with a living ecosystem that feels very different from Uganda’s savannah parks. For Syson itineraries, Bwindi is the natural anchor for a Uganda-first gorilla journey and combines well with Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Mburo National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
